Year 4 Trip to Reading Museum, Victorian School Experience

I am delighted to inform you that Year 4 will be visiting Reading Museum to take part in a Victorian School experience on Wednesday 22nd January 2025. This links closely with their Victorian history topic and on their return, the children will produce pieces of writing about their experience in role as a Victorian child.

We will be leaving school at 9:00am to walk to Wokingham station, catching the train to Reading, and then taking a short walk to Reading Museum. We will then walk to the Abbey Gateway building by Forbury Park for a Victorian School experience. The visit will finish by 2.15pm, and we will aim to be back at school for normal pick-up at 3.15pm.

Children can bring their own packed lunched on the day or our catering provider, Chartwells, can provide a school packed lunch.  If you are providing a packed lunch from home for your child, please remember no nut-based products, chocolate spread, cans, glass bottles or fizzy drinks.

Children will need to wear their full school uniform and should bring a named bottle of water.

We are asking for a contribution of £9.50 to cover the cost of this trip which you can pay via ParentMail Schoolmoney by no later than Friday 20th December.  This contribution is voluntary, and neither you nor your child will be treated differently if you are unable or choose not to contribute. However, please note that without voluntary contributions, this visit may have to be cancelled, as the school is unfortunately unable to fund the trip from existing budgets.

An electronic permission form for the visit must be completed by the Friday 20th December, giving consent for your child to participate in the trip.  To complete the form please access the ‘form’ section on your ParentMail app.

We are all very much looking forward to this.
