Children Go Back In Time To A Victorian Classroom
This week, Year 4 went to Reading on the train to experience what it was like in Victorian classrooms! They wore waistcoats and aprons, as the Victorian school children once did, to keep their own clothes from getting dirty at school.
They took part in Victorian lessons including literacy, numeracy, handwriting, geography and even had a Victorian movement break! They were on their best behaviour for the Victorian teacher, who was very strict.
After the session, the children returned to 2025, had their lunch and explored the rest of Reading Museum, learning about the history of Reading, the Romans and their copy of the Bayeux Tapestry. They had a great time and had lots of questions.
